The Jacobia estate was located along the shore of Lake Michigan in Hagar Township. The brainchild of entrepreneur and inventor Henry Jacobs, the property was planned in foresight to the Southwest Michigan tourist boom. The 180-acre retreat included a water tower known as Jacobs’ Tower, cottages, barns, a chapel, a dance pavilion, and a stairway to the beach known as Jacobs’ Ladder.
