Millburg Bank Robbery @ Bainbridge Twp. Hall

  • Bainbridge Township Hall 7315 Territorial Road Watervliet, MI, 49098 United States (map)

On the morning of February 21, 1925, Ms. Elizabeth Kreitner and Mr. Ben Kral opened the Millburg State Bank, prepared for what they thought would be a routine Saturday. However, their first customers were anything but ordinary. A group of armed men dressed in trench coats forced the tellers into the back closet and looted the bank. While the robbery only lasted a few minutes, the subsequent car chase, manhunt, and trial would long be remembered as one of Southwest Michigan’s most dramatic crimes of the 1920s.

The Millburg Bank Robbery will be presented in all of its exciting detail at Bainbridge Township Hall at 7315 Territorial Road by Peter Cook, Programs Director at the North Berrien Historical Museum in Coloma.

This free program will be available both online and in person. The online program will be viewable through Facebook Live on the North Berrien Historical Museum’s Facebook page. No RSVP is required to attend in person.
