Wilbur and Orville Wright's famous flight in 1903 has been recorded in history books as the first airplane flight. But was it truly the first flight? Dr. Stuart Boekeloo, local dentist and historian, will present the compelling story of aviator Augustus Herring who claimed to have flown years before the Wright brothers at Silver Beach in St. Joseph, Michigan. He will also present stories of other aviators, such as the first to cross Lake Michigan from St. Joseph, the inception of the air mail system, and more!
